Mr. Potato Head

Mr. Potato Head

Do you remember playing with Mr. Potato Head growing up? This is a classic game that provides many opportunities to promote development!

As they decorate the potato, children can talk about body parts/accessories and what they do/where we find them (e.g., We hear with our ears, Eyes are for looking, Hats go on our head, etc.). With our youngest friends, we label the pieces and model simple phrases/sentences to describe actions while playing (e.g., Push the nose, Put it in, Pull it out, etc.).

Mr. Potato Head, along with his “wife” and other potato-head-friends (we LOVE the Spiderman version!), also make for some super fun pretend and imaginative play! Give them a “check-up” with your doctor kit, invite them to a tea party, or take them on an outdoor adventure… the options are endless!
