“All you need is love” and Valentine’s day crafts! (Lennon/McCartney) It is the perfect time of year to mix up some of your kiddo’s favorite crafts and activities with hearts, x’s and o’s, and all the festive colors and sparkles of the holiday.
Here are a few of our favorite quick and easy Valentine projects. These can all be prepped ahead of time and pulled out in a pinch to keep your little love bugs busy.
X&O Button Snake
Felt, ribbon and buttons are all you need for these cutie button snakes! Cut out felt into whatever shape says love, add a cross cut in the middle of each shape, sew or hot glue buttons onto each end of the ribbon, and then start buttoning! xoxo

Valentine Playdough
Festive playdough colors and glitter dough with some sparkly gems or buttons make a quick Valentine set-up! You can also add a heart cookie cutter or some squeezy tongs to extend the play.

Love Bug Poppers
You know what makes an activity even more exciting? When it is wrapped like a present! To make these little love bugs, place small supplies like pom poms, felt hearts, pipe cleaners, stickers, and/or buttons inside an empty TP roll. Then wrap up the roll with some festive tissue paper and ribbons. Add some glue and your kiddo is ready to make their own little critter!
DIY Tic Tac Toe Board
Use a felt square with ribbon stripes to make a simple tic tac toe board. Next, cut some hearts or x&o shapes into different colors. For littles who aren’t quite ready for the rules of tic tac toe, they can practice placing onto the board or making simple patterns.
Beading Hearts
Felt hearts with a cross cut and some cut straw pieces make a simple beading activity. Little ones will find these larger shapes easier for learning.
Heart Crayons
We make these beauties every year! They are the perfect non-candy alternative for littles to share with friends. You’ll just need crayons and a heart-shaped silicone mold. See our previous post for more details.

Postcards
Love letters preschool style! Cut out some cardboard postcard shapes and add some velcro felt stamps. Your littles will love adding stickers and coloring their own postcards.
Heart Geoboards
Cut out cardboard hearts and add small snips around the edge. Add some rainbow loom bands to make these beautiful designs.
Heart Sponges
Cut sponges into a heart shape. Add paint and some glitter and start stamping! We love taping butcher paper to the table for lots of space for creating.
And remember, “In the end, the love you take is equal to the love (and Valentine projects) you make.” (McCartney)
